California Healthy Kids Survey

California Healthy Kids Survey

Every two years, school districts in California are encouraged to participate in the California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS).  The CHKS is a comprehensive youth health risk and resilience data collection service for school districts sponsored by the California Department of Education. The CHKS grew out of the California Department of Education’s commitment to promoting the academic success, well–being, and positive development of all youth.

The CHKS is given to 7th, 9th and 11th grade students and contains questions focusing on resiliency, protective factors, risk behaviors and school climate. Data from the California Healthy Kids Survey provides valuable information to guide efforts to reduce student health risk behaviors and build schools that are drug–free, safe, and supportive havens for healthy, positive youth development and achievement.  Please click on the links below to see the questions that will be asked at each specific grade level in the core and supplemental modules.   A copy can also be found at school sites.

If you have questions, please contact Dr. Mariana Gomez, Program Manager of Equity, Culture and Support Services at mariana.gomez@sweetwaterschools.org or (619) 490-4933.
